How close do you feel to God? Do you feel that God is a close friend or a compassionate and loving parent? Do you believe that God hears your prayers and responds to your requests? Do you feel an intimate connection with Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, as your Savior? These are important questions that we need to ask ourselves as believers.

Each of us has an opportunity to have a close and loving relationship with Jesus...and it all begins with prayer. In the first century, the apostles gave up serving tables In the daily distribution of food to the poor widows and orphans so that they could devote themselves to prayer and the preaching of the word. This is where the word devotion comes from. It is the time of study, reflection, and prayer to God that is set aside daily by believers.

The most important thing to acknowledge is that the intimacy of our relationship with God is in our control. Jesus already did His part on Calvary. It is now time for us to do our part by spending dedicated time in prayer. Do you want a closer walk with the Lord? You can have a new and closer relationship with the Lord, if you are willing to invest the time. God desires to hear from you. God desires to respond to your appeals. Just take the time to be alone with God and you will see a radical difference in your life.
