mothersday 1Southeast SDA Church began celebration of Mother’s Day weekend by discovering, “Three Things a Woman of Faith Knows.” First Lady Dr. Carolyn Henry-Hurst delivered a thought-provoking sermon on some important truths that were directed towards the women in attendance, but are applicable in the lives of all who believe in the risen savior.

 

The first thing a woman of faith knows is that, “I Am a Child of God.” According to Romans 8:16-17, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.”

 

The second thing a woman of faith knows is that, “I am Saved.” I John 5:11-13 assures us that “These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.“motherday 2

 

The third thing a woman of faith knows is that, “Prayer changes things” First Lady Hurst reminded us that in this world, ”There are power naps, power walks, power ties and power moves... but we’ve got power prayers!” James 5:16 brought that message home, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

 

First Lady Hurst left worshippers with this brief but powerful prayer, “Heavenly Father forgive me, Holy Spirit empower me, in the name of Jesus.”

 

motherday 4Following spiritual nourishment, the men of Southeast provided the physical nourishment by preparing and serving a delicious meal to the women. The men turned Fellowship Hall into a beautiful and serene atmosphere of purples, lavenders and greens.

 

The women of Southeast en-joyed the results of all the hard work and planning the men of Southeast put into making their day special.
