Hello Family,

Several years ago there was a commercial for a recording device that paired the sound of a real orchestra with that of a recording. The result of the comparison was that it really difficult to identify between that which was true and that which was false. Well, every day we have to determine and differentiate between the voices that we hear. In this season of unprecedented vitriol in our public debate, we must determine the truth from the lie.

Today, I want to suggest to you that in order to determine what is real and what is artificial in this world, there is a trustworthy way to help us make that determination. Observe character. How you ever wondered how can I recognize the voice of God. I suggested that one of the most important ways to identify the voice of God is by God's character. God will not act or speak in a way that is out of character with who God is and what God has done. God will always act in line with what is good and right...with what is just and loving...with what is merciful and kind and God is always going to do what is best for the weak, the poor, the alienated, the disenfranchised, and the least among us. Anyone who claims to stand with God and does not stand on the principles and teachings that God has imparted to God's people through the Holy Spirit down through the ages is not teaching that which is true.

Each day, we hear voices that compete with the voice of God, and we must choose. We must choose between what is right and what is wrong. We must choose between what is good and what is evil...between what is of God and what is of the enemy. Do not be confused, the enemy is beguiling, and Jesus said that a time would come when the enemy would confuse even God's people. We must always be on our guard as the people of God, not to be confused or misguided by the voice of the enemy. The only way not to be confused is to spend regular time in the presence of God listening for the voice of God and studying the word of God, the Bible.

Let's be followers of the truth today. Let's seek the voice of the true and living God each and every day, so that when we hear the enemy we will recognize him and act as those who walk in the light Christ.
