At the beginning of a New Year, it is always good to ask yourself the simple question, "What do I want from this New Year?" What are your expectations as you start the next twelve months? Are you looking for something different than what you have experienced in the past year? Have you made changes in preparation for this New Year that will enable you to experience some new results and new opportunities? Are there big steps that you will make in 2017 that you have never made before?

Each year, it is important to do an inventory of yourself and of your expectations of the New Year. By doing this, you are creating a framework on which to build a realistic plan of action for the New Year. Dr. Lawrence Neale Jones, use to tell his students that they should, "Live as if we are going to die tomorrow and plan as if we are going to live forever." The old adage teaches us, "If we fail to plan, we plan to fail." Knowing what you want is the key to having a good and achievable plan.

So, let's go back to my initial question. What do you want from the New Year? If you can answer that question clearly and coherently, then you are ready to make your requests known to God. God desires to give you everything that is in God's will for you, and all of God's will is for your good and blessing. As you think about this important initial question of the year, you can rest assured of one thing-your life and the year 2017 are both in God's hand, and God can be trusted. Stay in God's will in 2017. You won't regret it.
