While many states start to lift mask mandates, the CDC stays firm on its guidance. The agency is finalizing details even as most states have already lifted indoor mask requirements. States have begun to lift mask mandates, both indoors and outdoors. While some states start to lift mask mandates CDC data suggests it's too early and stands firm on its guidance.
At a recently held CDC briefing, when asked about states lifting mask mandates, CDC director, Dr. Rochelle Wolensky acknowledged that these decisions should be made at the local level. She also stated CDC still RECOMMEND people continue to mask up for now! Covid cases and hospitalizations are declining but they need to be lower. She states, "we at the CDC are watching the trends while working on developing guidelines, but again the numbers are not low enough."
The CDC is expected to update indoor mask guidance as early as next week. Dr. Rochelle Wolensky, CDC director, is expected to discuss masking guidance on Wednesday, 2/23/22, at a White House Covid-19 Response Team briefing. We will keep you updated as information become available. At Southeast SAFETY is always and will be going forward, first and for most!
Thank you and be safe,
Delores Mitchell, Retired LPN
