Elder Hill delivered a clear and powerful narrative on the biblical example of deep, abiding faith-- the woman with the issue of blood. This story is found in the books of Matthew, Mark and Luke, but Elder Hill spoke from Matthew 5:25.

In preparing for her talk on the woman with the issue, Elder Hill actually consulted with a doctor friend to find out exactly, “what could cause a 12-year issue of blood?” The doctor stated it could be a hormone imbalance, fibroids, possibly a form of cancer.” Whatever caused her affliction, this woman suffered. Elder Hill stated that, “our biblical sister, just referred to as “woman” was an outcast. She was her own one—woman pandemic—people isolated from her. She was locked up in the house for 12 years--lonely, depressed and desperate. She went from doctor to doctor, but there was no cure.

This woman indeed suffered, but Elder Hill also described this sister as a woman of great faith. “Her body was weak, but her faith was strong. She knew some day her faith in God would save her. She did not sit on her desperation, she put her prayers into action.”

The woman made up in her mind that she would PUSH her way to Jesus and that is exactly what she did. The crowd was so large, they didn’t know she was there, but when she touched the hem of his garment and he felt his virtue go out from him, Jesus knew she was there. He called her daughter. Elder Hill emphasized that “she was no longer the woman with the issue, she was daughter.”

Elder Hill reminded the congregation that, “whatever your issue is---get up off your desperation and take it to the Lord in prayer.” PUSH.

At the 11 o’clock hour, Pastor Stan Hood continued the theme of “My Sister’s Keeper” with the sermon, “Kinsman Redeemer.” Taken from Ruth 2-4, Pastor Hood recounted the story of Ruth and Boaz, going through scripture to “show that Boaz was a type of Christ and Jesus is the ultimate Kinsman Redeemer.
