During the month of January 2016, the Southeast Men’s Ministry held a drive to help with the collection of socks for the homeless men of Cleveland. On February 6th, the men of Southeast spent a Sabbath afternoon delivering over 400 pairs of socks and a hot bowl of chili to the homeless men serviced by the Men’s Homeless Shelter located at 2100 Lakeside. This shelter is a housing pillar in the Cleveland community proving emergency shelter up to 350 men per night with supportive services and solutions to homelessness.
The homeless have many needs, one of them being the need for warm, clean clothes and personal care products. Assisting the Homeless with these items provides a way for them to maintain a sense of self worth and dignity. Jesus spent much of his time on Earth emphasizing the worth of every human being and the need for His disciples to help, heal, and provide care for those in need. In keeping with Southeast's FLOW theme (Fellowship, Learning, Outreach, and Worship), this project was just one way to REACH OUT and demonstrate the discipleship Christ displayed in His every living. It is our prayer that the men served were blessed.
Thank you to everyone for your support with the “Sock it 2 ME” project!
