jerome hurstHello Family,

As I reflect on the condition of our world and particularly the state of our national government, I am uniquely struck by the absence of truth in our national discourse. So much of what we see and hear represents the efforts of individuals, attempting to persuade the populace of their opinion or perspective, very little of which has anything to do with truth or fact.

Jesus taught his disciples about truth with these simple words, "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free." This is the amazing power of truth. It liberates us from the lies that bind us and oppress us. The truth united us with God who is the source of all truth. But what is the most important truth that we must know and embrace as believers? The first truth is that God loves us more than anything. God loved us so much that God came to earth, robed in human flesh, in the person of Jesus Christ and suffered unthinkable pain and degradation, for no other reason than God's unfathomable love for you and me. The second most important truth is that we have all sinned and are undeserving of that amazing love, but God graces us with it nonetheless. This is the truth that Jesus teaches us that will set us free. Walking in this truth empowers us to live a life filled with peace, hope, joy and victory.

Does your life manifest the truth of Jesus Christ? Have you been crucified with Him and has He been resurrected in you? This is the power of truth...that we my live the love of Christ every day, in every way. Take the time to learn more of the One who died to save you. It is not enough just to know what He did for you. We need to know of His mission and purpose and of His mission and purpose for our lives. When we embrace this, it will set us free to soar to heights unknown in the love of Christ.

Persevering in Truth,

-- Pastor J. M. Hurst
