If you missed the meeting, here are the important highlights. We will have a follow-up to this meeting in the next few days.

Stay tuned.

1. Update on Possible Dates for Returning to the Church

By now, many of you have heard that Cleveland will relax the shelter in place mandate on May 1, 2020. Allegheny West Conference decided several weeks ago that our congregation will remain closed beyond May 1. They will assess the situation again on May 15. I explained to the attendees at the meeting that we can be certain that no Allegheny West church will reopen prior to June because Camp Meeting will take place via Zoom from May 14 – 23. There is no need to reopen churches prior to the conclusion of Camp Meeting. It’s safe to watch this event at home versus in church.

2. We also announced the formation of the Southeast Health Council, brought together to develop a strategy for reentry and advise the pastor. Our goal is to take every precaution possible to ensure our members are safe, even if our time away extends beyond the time AWC informs us that it’s safe to return. The council will meet again on May 17 to hopefully finalize the plans.

3. Stewardship update. Our tithe for April was little over $27,000. This was very good considering the struggles that are taking place around the conference. We met our local budget goal of $14,000 for the month. I took the time to thank our congregation and congratulate our treasury department and essential workers who ensure that funds are handled properly.

4. Policy Manual – The need for clear and simple protocols was explained in detail. When everyone understands procedures, it reduces confusion and creates harmony in the church. The leaders will work on the manual while we are away and update you on progress.

5. Church Growth – As with the first Family Meeting, we concluded with several scriptures on the importance of fellowship – fellowship with God and with one another. We were encouraged to utilize the time to seek God, forgive one another and be refreshed. Here are the scriptures: 1 Chronicles 22:19, Exodus 25:8, Acts 1:8, Acts of the Apostles p. 37.

The closing appeal was gauge expectations based on previous evangelism efforts. We must look to the Biblical example of church growth. When the apostles felt the need for God in their own lives and surrendered, God brought the people to them. It’s my goal and desire as your new pastor to champion this cause at Southeast, Ramah and the surrounding Adventist churches in our area. I’m believing God for the harvest.

6. We closed with prayer and well wishes for Elder A. Stone.

Be safe and I will talk with you soon!
