hurst 1Family, friends and members of Southeast SDA Church, Cleveland, OH, recently gathered to honor Pastor Jerome M. Hurst on reaching 10 years of service to church and community.

The worship service that celebrated this milestone was joyous and spirit-filled. Celebrants leading the commemoration included William Cox, president of Allegheny West Conference, Jason Ridley, pastor of Hilltop Community Worship Center, Columbus, OH, who served as worship host, and Claval Hunter, pastor of Tabernacle of Praise SDA Church, St. Louis, MO, who delivered the spoken word.

Pastor Hurst, known for his tireless service to the community, including social and civic involvement, has embraced a philosophy to take ministry beyond the walls of the church. The local community has witnessed members of Southeast, along with their pastor, taking turns walking children in dangerous neighborhoods to school follow-ing the tragic death of a young girl who was abducted on her way to school. The community depends on the monthly food giveaway and a new prison ministry that seeks to reach and motivate troubled youth.

Dedication to the church’s motto—FLOW (Fellowship, Learning, Outreach and Worship)— brings the church closer through various programs and events that foster fellow-ship, Lunch and Learn Seminars that enlighten and empower, Outreach to the community and Wednesday and Sabbath worship experiences that feed the soul.
