Greetings Southeast Family!

 

What a wonderful thing it is to be under the protection and loving care of our almighty God in heaven! Know that your church leadership has prayed for you today. We look forward to the day when we can fellowship together. In the meantime, we will watch and pray.

 

Leadership Team Meeting (Board Meeting)

 

Our leadership team met April 19, 2020 from 10 am to noon. The purpose of the virtual meeting was to review church activity since the last meeting. Below is a brief summary of the meeting.

 

Devotional

Pastor Hood stressed the importance of having a unified vision at Southeast using the book “The Blessed Church” by Robert Morris. The scripture reading was Isaiah 43:19 I am about to do a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert. We had a season of prayer and sang the hymn “He Lives” prior to conducting church business.

 

Voted Items

  • The financial summary from March 2020 was approved.
  • Community Service activity during COVID19 was applauded.
  • Ongoing food giveaway activity was approved.
  • Pastoral Items – Preparing for Reentry

Five items were emphasized as keys for the foreseeable future.

  1. Children/Youth Ministries – By the grace of God, we will be allowed to return to church to worship together. In anticipation of that day, intentional preparation will be made to encourage and celebrate our youth.
  2.  Policy Manual – We will begin the work on developing a policy manual that clearly outlines the procedures of church when handling common situations. Upon completion, the manual will be approved by the board and then presented to the church for approval. 
  3. Transforming Evangelism – The basics of each one reach one will always be the foundation of evangelism. How we reach people has shifted in this age of technology. Quarantine has taught us that greater resources should be extended toward the quality of our presence on social media outlets. New equipment must be purchased to accomplish this task.
  4. Returning to Church – We anticipate great joy from our members reentering the church. All department leaders were challenged to prepare to revamp their ministry in order to make the transition as pleasant as possible.
  5. Enabling Act – The board was asked to empower the Finance Committee to make limited intermittent decisions between board meetings to accomplish the goals listed above.

All pastoral items were approved.

 

The next scheduled Leadership Team Meeting is planned for May 17, 2020 at 10 am.
