Southeast SDA Church was the place to be on Wednesday, March 16th, 2016, as we were blessed with the presence of the Howard University Gospel Choir. The Southeast sanctuary was filled with approximately 150 guests who thoroughly enjoyed the gospel choir, which consisted of 36 choir members and 4 musicians. Mr. Reginald Golden, Choir Director and Music Producer, displayed a pleasant, unassuming stage presence, with a passionate and articulate style.
The program started out with a melodic introduction of "Even Me". Bolder tones of music were rendered in an introspective manner. An attractive bridge to the more contemporary songs were that of, "Marvelous Things" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness", closing the program's first half with their rendition of "In Bright Mansions".
The second half began with a fresh, youthful opening of syncopations and harmonics in the classic rendition of "All in His Hands". The exciting passage work of an old time gospel selection, "Aint Gonna Let Nobody", provided an exquisite contrast to the earlier contemporary gospel medley. The full-voiced choir rendered bold, rollicking songs, as well as sprightly paced melodies. The Howard University Gospel Choir collections resonated a splendid, handsome end to an enjoyable concert by closing out with "Awesome God". A youthful vitality was felt in the sanctuary, with intellectual vigor and above all, producing an unblemished, flawless concert.
