How are the stay-at-home orders during this coronavirus pandemic affecting your health? Have you been indulging in foods that you normally stay away from because they are curving your anxiety, depression, or boredom? Do you find yourself grazing on snacks because you are working from home? Did your fitness center shutdown to comply with the governor’s orders, and now the most activity you do is move from one room in your house to the next? I can raise my hand to some of these examples. How about you? The past couple months have been a roller coaster full of change and unpredictability.
When the world is spiraling out of control and it is causing havoc in your life, try to automate as much as possible so you can reserve your mental and physical strength for more serious matters. One tip I would like to share is planning your meals and snacks. You can plan a day, a week, or a month ahead. Whatever works for you. This will help make your grocery shopping less aimless and more of a focused mission. Plan to incorporate protein into your meals and snacks. Proteins take longer to digest and satisfy you longer than a simple carbohydrate meal. Eggs are one of my go-to foods. They are easy to prepare and they are one of the most nutritious foods on earth. The dreaded “what-to-eat” will be one less unknown variable during this chaotic time.
